The R5 Desktop Wallet is self-custodial, meaning that you are in control of your own keys. However, you always need to be very careful when exposing it, even if it is for a short period of time.
Differently from backing up your wallet via exporting a wallet file, that requires your password in order to be decrypted, whoever gets access to your private key will also have direct and unrestricted access to your wallet and your funds.
If you are on a secure place, not being filmed and with no one looking over your sholders, you can use the "show private key" button to expose your private key.
After clicking the button, you will be prompted to confirm that you really want to expose your private key. Make sure you take all the security precautions before proceeding.
After confirming, your private key will be shown. Make sure you close the private key modal as soon as as fast as you can.
